Travel Alert

As of this week (12/08/2026), there has been a wildfire on the A31 near Picket post, and the A31 is currently shut, (I understand between Jn2 of the M27 and Ringwood). The road will remain shut until the fire (about 250Acres unfortunately), has been made completely safe, and the road and fences (which keep the New Forest ponies and cattle safe from the road) have been repaired. As a consequence there is a diversion, and there is extra local traffic to accommodate the diversions. 

Please check for travel updates before you journey and stay safe. 

BBQs and cooking fires of any sort are not allowed in the National Park.
